Hotel Review: Westin Denver Airport

I’m always a little hesitant to stay at airport hotels because they usually charge top $$ for a mediocre experience. But I was visiting Denver for a friends wedding, had 2 free night vouchers from SPG & the Westin Denver Airport was one of the only category 5 hotels available so I thought “Hey, why not give it a try.

I spent 2 nights at the Westin – just enough time to get a good feel of the hotel & give it a proper review so here it goes ?

If you are catching an early flight out of Denver International Airport the Westin is perfectly located. The entrance/exit of the hotel is located just a few steps away from security & makes for a painless check-in process. This suggests a big thumbs up for location, right?

Well, sort of – if you are in Denver for anything else & need to get into the city it’s inconvenient & honestly kind of annoying. The hotel is located down a long road about 25 miles northeast of the city so it’s quite a trek to get to any of the hot spots. We normally eat dinner at local joints, enjoy visiting the parks & all the city has to offer so a hotel in the middle of no where isn’t my preference.

    Hotel Experience

Room – The rooms were clean, spacious & filled with sunlight from the large windows. We were upgraded to a corner room which was ginormous & included automatic shades on the windows – a great feature as the sun rose on our side of the hotel. The bath included a large soaker tub, a walk in shower & a large window provided plenty of natural light which is much appreciated.

Hotel Staff – The front desk staff was courteous, friendly, & inviting. They were quick to answer the phones & always willing to help us with our requests which I appreciate because I’ve stayed at other hotels that take 30 minutes to deliver toothpaste.

Restaurant – Grill & Vine – We ate breakfast here & it was exceptional. Our waitress was extremely helpful & provided us options on using our SPG Platinum amenity. I highly recommend the banana date smoothie & the omelet. ??

    Look & Feel

Have you seen the architecture of this hotel? It’s beautiful – with tons of windows & a calming blue hue. The hotel oddly brings together modern architecture with art including a large wind-activated sculptural installation titled, “Field of Air,” which is beautifully placed in between the terminal and the hotel. See the video below to see what I mean.

The hotel opened its door in 2015 & the decor of the lobby, the restaurant, & the bar is modern, stylish & clean – another high point of this hotel.
